Should I be twisting my slipped stitches on the next round?

I'm a new-ish knitter (I've known how to knit and purl for years but only made garter/rib/stockinette scarves until this year), and I have a question about slipped stitches in this pattern.

In one row, I'm supposed to slip certain stitches. I noticed in the next row, they're set up for a twist, so I have been knitting through the back loop to untwist them. When I slip the stitches, I've been slipping as if to knit. Am I doing this correctly? Is slipping knitwise a mistake, or does it matter since I'm untwisting them? Or SHOULD they be twisted?

Hopefully this makes sense 😬
