Can you sew a pattern into a sweater you’ve knitted?

Post Body

I was looking at the easiest way to do a pattern in a sweater (I want to make a gengar sweater!) and I saw something about how you could just knit it and sew the pattern in after. But then I lost that article. And now I don’t know if I miss understood it (I was in a hurry at the time and didn’t read it closely). Can someone point me in the right direction for that, or give me some tips? Thanks!
