What is the difference between Riftforged Orcs and Normal Orcs

I was looking to get the Battle in the Shires starter set as I really want a Halfling army. But I wanted Orcs or Dwarves to be my second army. I saw the starter comes with Riftfordged Orcs.
What is the difference between Riftforged Orcs and Normal orcs? Can you use normal Orcs in a Riftfordge army?
