Help Identifying Snake

Hey everyone! I'm picking up a snake next week, I've been told he/she is 17 years old and a "mexican king snake". This is a photo of the snake. I have a Mexican Black King Snake. But my guy Hades is solid black. Can MBK get the speckles as they age? Apparently they appeared as the snake got older. I haven't seen this snake in person yet, not until I pick it up. Curious of the type of king it is. 😊
