I like trying to get all of the Achievements in each game, but there are some that are so annoying, so difficult, or so tedious that it almost makes me give up. Trust me, I have gotten every single achievement at least once, but there were a few that I will never, ever forget. Let's get started.

Number 5: They're Coming! (KRV)

Requirements: Deal 30,000 damage total with the Shadow Archer's Crow's Nest ability upgrade.

I think this one is an already well known achievement tied to an equally infamous ability. It's not really that difficult at all; Shadow Archers are among the cheapest towers in the game, and the Crow's Nest ability also isn't too pricy. However, the damage numbers of the crow should speak for themselves: 1 damage per hit at level 1, and 2 damage per hit at level 2. Wow. This makes the whole grind much more tedious than it needs to be. You're going to need a LOT of Shadow Archers, time, and patience to get this achievement. It's definitely possible, but not very satisfying at all.

Number 4: Grim Reaper (KRF)

Requirements: Have your Death Knights kill 99 enemies in total.

Your Death Knights need to deal the killing blow to an enemy in order to count towards this achievement, and that's where the main problem lies: they don't hit particularly hard. Even at maximum level, Death Knights only deal 15-25 damage; while they are resilient fighters, they can't even kill the weakest of enemies most of the time by themselves. Also because of this, they are prone to getting their kills stolen by towers since towers tend to deal a lot more damage than soldier units anyways. Combined with the fact that each Necromancer tower can only have Death Knight each, and the abominably high requirement of 99 kills, this only amounts to an unamusing chore. The only reason why this isn't higher is because the Death Knight itself is actually a good upgrade, unlike the Crow's Nest, so you might get it eventually unknowingly if you use the Necromancer tower in general a lot.

Number 3: Valar Morghulis (KRO)

Requirements: Have 5 enemies marked by the Hunter's Mark ability simultaneously at any given time.

This one feels like a giant science project where the conditions and circumstances have to be meticulously thought out. In order to ensure maximum success, the player has to spam Golden Longbows with Hunter's Mark on a stage with good income because a good setup for this achievement is not cheap. Of course, you will still need just enough towers to hold the line since not dying helps a lot when going for achievements. Even with all of this, however, complications still exist. Hunter's Mark arrows can miss their targets, and since Hunter's Mark arrows quite literally make their victims more vulnerable to damage, it's also possible for their victims to accidentally die during the process. It's quite ironic, really: trying to keep 5 enemies alive while simultaneously inflicting them with an effect that increases damage dealt to them. That will surely turn out well.

Number 2: Highlander (KRF)

Requirements: Have a single Templar Knight revive themselves 5 times in a row with the Holy Grail ability upgrade.

Welcome to the Casino! Unfortunately, this Casino isn't very fun at all. All I can say is that this Achievement can eat a Rain of Fire, because the luck required to get this to work is painful. I've done some basic calculations, and the probability of a single Templar Knight to revive themselves 5 times in a row with max level Holy Grail ability is about 1.024%. Are you kidding me? Similar to Valar Morghulis, a good setup for this Achievement is not cheap. Both the Knight Templar tower itself and the Holy Grail ability are expensive to upgrade. Also, Holy Grail needs to be at max level to have a decent chance. Otherwise, the success probability becomes nearly void. What's most frustrating is that letting your Templar Knights die as often as possible is the most optimal way to complete this Achievement. This completely contradicts the whole point of barracks in the first place, is not always a viable option and may cause the player to lose (thus requiring even more time spent setting up the process again), and encourages poor gameplay. This could easily be number 1 on some player's minds depending on their experiences or opinions on luck.

Honorable Mention 1: Ali Baba (KRF)

Requirements: Have your Assassins pickpocket 10,000 Gold from enemies in total with the Pickpocket ability.

It sounds as tedious as it is. Having only a chance to pickpocket 1-2 from 1 enemy per attack is a big chore. Like the Grim Reaper achievement though, the Assassin's Guild is actually a pretty good tower and the Pickpocket upgrade can see some genuine usage even disregarding Achievement hunting. Additionally, there are the standard 3 Assassins per tower compared to the Necromancer tower which can only have 1 Death Knight each. Over time, a player might earn the Achievement accidentally.

Honorable Mention 2: Oakenshield (KRF)

Requirements: Have a single Dwarf soldier heal a total of 500 HP throughout their lifetime.

It's main difficulty factor stems from the fact that it is only "possible" to be obtained in one level. Although the Dwarf soldiers appear in both the Dark Descent and Darklight Depths, the latter level's abundance of Saurian Deathcoil snipers make it virtually impossible for the Dwarf soldiers to stay alive long enough. It's still difficult to do in Dark Descent with the Saurian Blazefangs and Brutes occasionally, but it is much easier to control how much damage the Dwarf soldiers withstand due to the general lack of enemies with powerful burst damage.

Number 1: Wildfire Harvest (KRO)

Requirements: Have your Weirdwoods throw 1,000 Fiery Nuts in total with Fiery Nut ability.

This Achievement feels less like an Achievement and more of a chore. Let's start off with the fact that the required combination is the most expensive upgrade tree in the game! Weirdwoods are the most expensive tower and the Fiery Nut is the most expensive ability to upgrade in the game if I recall correctly. Second, Weirdwoods are not even that good of a tower! It's pretty well known that the artillery equivalents in Origins are not as good as in other games, making this Achievement genuinely difficult in addition to being tedious. There are very few stages or chances where a player can safely invest a heap of Gold into a Weirdwood with Fiery Nut. Even with all that being said, 1000 Fiery Nuts is a ridiculous demand. The cooldown of the ability and the attack speed of the tower are so slow that you'll be lucky if one Weirdwood throws more than just 10 Fiery Nuts. Personally, I find this to be worse than Highlander because unlike it, there is no method or luck that you can rely on to speed up the process.
