Issue with notifications for Messenger Kids on a Kids freetime account

So I am a bit stuck. Trying to help a friend with parental controls on their Fire HD 8. She has created freetime accounts for the kids and installed Facebook messenger kids on each account. The problem is that anytime someone messages the kids no notifications pop up. Notifications is enabled for the thread. The problem is under the kids account I can't find Notification setting. Notification setting for the parents profile are all enabled.
