Every year or two, I think about getting a kindle or similar device

Post Body
Update: Thank you all for your comments to my inquiries. Sadly, I will probably stick with my real books.
Yet, I always run into the same issues/questions/concerns. I assume that none of them have been addressed, but I thought I'd ask those with more experience on the matter.
What's stopping me?
- I like reading actual books. I like buying actual books. Is there any service that will give you a free digital copy of your book if/when you buy a physical one? Many Blu-ray's do this now, giving you a digital copy you can watch without having to pull out the actual disc.
- Having 5 overflowing bookcases, how do I get digital copies of all of my existing books onto a digital device without paying a second time for each book? I don't see the point of having a kindle or other device if I can't have all my books with me.
- Is there some recognized central authority regarding who has the rights to a copy to specific books? Or are we still in a place where a company/service can simple remove a book you've purchased from your device (like one of them did aptly with 1984 a few years back if I recall)?
Who knows, maybe I'll be surprised.
