As the title says, I have a Kindle touch still from back pretty much when it was first released (summer 2012). Over time it's got gradually less effective (the wi-fi basically never worked, but over time battery life started getting lower, and started having issues with the buttons if it got dropped, etc).
The power button has finally gotten stuck in a half depressed state (one side fully pressed in, the other side protruding a bit but not as much as it normally would) and the device itself is locked on the reboot screen. Every now and then it will go through the screenflash as it reboots, but this generally only happens after pressing on the power button further than it currently is.
The main problem is that as well as this it is apparently unable to connect to the computer via usb in this state, meaning I can't transfer files off (I have a new kindle that I mainly use for things directly off the amazon store via wifi). I have all the documents for the past year and a half to two years that were on the Touch, but the ~6 years before that are all from a previous computer (that I MIGHT be able to get at, but the computer was in a bad state when I stopped using it years ago even if I still have it).
Overall actually getting it working again isn't my main priority, but I'd like to be able to get the files off, so either a way to fix the connection issues, or get the card out and having a way to read it would be ideal.
Any help would be much appreciated.
