Newest Kindle Paerwhite model - Device keeps resetting my home view?

Normally home view keeps track of the most recent three books you're reading / have read, but whenever I restart the Kindle it just goes back to the first three books in the main library view.
Is this normal? It's really annoying. And sometimes it does it without restarting, and then goes back to my most recent three after opening one of them.
This doesn't seem like normal behavior to me.
