I know that KF has been sort of inserting itself into this issue, taking a stance in support of Palestine and against Israel. I know most of this is due to the civilian casualties, but I do think some of the messaging seems to ignore the role Hamas has played in this conflict. Hamas uses violent rhetoric against Israelis and Jews in general and have been radicalizing Palestinians as well. Hamas uses civilians as shields but also attack Israel. From what I've read the Iron Dome is the main reason casualties on the Israeli side have been so low so far, but that eventually there won't be enough rockets to use the Iron Dome anymore. What do Israelis want from this conflict? Do they just want to drive out Hamas? Will they allow Palestinians to join Israel and still practice their religion freely? Or does Israel want Palestinians to give up any claims on their land and move out? Do Palestinians in general want a peaceful solution to the conflict?Do they tolerate Hamas despite knowing that they are a terrorist group and treat Gaza like a dictatorship?
This conflict has been ongoing for decades that I know of, and it seems to me whenever this violence escalates many are quick to condemn Israel for its retaliation due to civilian deaths but seem to ignore Hamas and the role they play in escalating the violence. I just think if Western creators are going to share their opinions on this they can't only do it when the tensions and violence are high and hold all the extremist sides of the conflict accountable for their role in it.
