I decided to replay Killzone HD on PS3 this weekend and I'm surprised at how well it holds up. I really love how the game weaves the gameplay through the various playable characters and environments to tell a universal story.
While I do love Killzone 2 it takes place entirely on Helgan while in the original there's just something about the variety in the level design covering bombed out urban areas, labs and office buildings and even outdoor areas that keep the experience fresh. In my personal opinion it was a much better setting than the cold war-inspired Shadow Fall and a better experience overall.
I doubt we'll ever see another Killzone any time soon as Guerrilla Games seem to be focusing on the Horizon series but I would be lying if I said I wouldn't love a remake of the original Killzone some day. It's a shame that Guerrilla Cambridge closed it's doors as after their incredible work on Killzone: Mercenary I think they could have done a very serviceable job with a remake.
What do you think? Is repelling Helgan invaders from attacking Vekta something that begs to be revisited or do you prefer the Killzone 2/3 or Shadow Fall approach?
