My creatinine has been right at, or just above 1 for over a year. Sometimes it jumps up a bit. My last blood draw it was 1.16 and the highest it's been is 1.3ish. My gfr is 60's-70's. Acceptable but not great and when my creatinine jumped to 1.3 it dropped into the 50's. No protein in my urine though, which is good. I know that these are not super concerning numbers but I did do an infusion treatment that can cause 2 different types of AI kidney disease. One is rapidly progressing and the other is more gradual.
My neuro has been monitoring my numbers closely and teetering on the edge of a nephro consult for awhile. When my labs came back this time he messaged me that I should go get a renal ultrasound and depending on what that shows he might refer me to nephro. I'm relieved to get the testing done and my hope is that it rules out any major issues, though I don't really know what they are looking for specifically.
Just feeling a little nervous about this whole thing snowballing, while at the same time relieved in a way that maybe I'll get more definitive information than "it's probably fine." I have been trying to be patient and trust my dr's judgement on when enough is enough. Part of me wants to pursue the nephro consult even if the results are clear. I've been dealing with this for a long time and it would be nice to put it to rest if I can. What do y'all think-- trust that he's got this under control or make the appt for the consult?
