Is weed bad for kidneys?

I’m 18 with pretty bad kidneys (was 41 but went to 43). My doctor said weed probably isn’t contributing but I was jw if anyone else smokes and is fine. I was thinking of ingesting it instead because it’d b safer. Thoughts if any?
