Help making some cool sounds?

I have a Yamaha P71. It was purchased for my wife's daughter years ago and immediately chucked into the closet. I pulled it out and decided to learn to play it.
I just built a sustain pedal for it out of some junk I had laying around (it's just a switch, I used an arcade button).
My daydream is just to make some cool synth music with it, and maybe learn to play some songs from my favorite games. I took piano and trumpet lessons for a few years when I was a kid but that was about 30 years ago.
How do I get started? Is there a youtube channel that would be helpful?
