The IM needle wasn't too bad, it hurt a little going in and burned a little when putting in the liquid ketamine. Doing it to myself was fine though and I think is my prefered method. Although my partner did start to cry part way through the evening because he was so anxious about what I was doing and I had to explain the difference between shooting up in a vein and an IM injection.
Where I went a bit wrong was the dosing. I ended up massively under dosing and removing the needle too quickly letting loads run out. It's better to keep the needle in there a few seconds before moving to give it chance to soak in.
In the end I ended up giving myself about 8 shots. The first 2 I didn't really feel anything because I shat it and well under dosed. Some of the others were underdosed too. I used a fresh sterile needle every time. The arm where I did 7 shots hurts a fair bit. It's bruised, tender, feels slightly warm to the touch and like I've had 7 vaccines. The arm where I only did one shot is absolutely fine.
What would I do differently next time? Prepare 2 or 3 shots ready to go so I didn't have to keep coming back to almost sober to make them up. I wouldn't space them out over so many hours and I wouldn't dose so many times. The after effects lasted so much longer than I expected. I was still up tripping and feeling weird until after 6am though I stopped at 11. So fewer, higher dosed shots next time. I also had a horrific come down the next day so I need to be careful how much I use.
Anyway I shall leave it a few weeks for my body to recover and try experiment 2. I'm trying to do a home version of ketamine therapy so I use a lot of 360 guided meditations and it's doing me the world of good.
