So I’m currently living in London and not in a rush to leave. However, I’m aware that my time in London will come to an end as I look to buy, see friends move out and want to be able to do things I can’t do while living here. I’m thinking Kent could be an option as I want to do lots of water sports.
Current situation: Live in a house share, pay £1100 including bills that I split 50/50 with my gf. I work near Liverpool st. 3 days a week 8:30-5. She works in Hammersmith 2 days a week 9:30-5. Current combined income is ~£75k however I expect this to rise to above £100k within the time we might move ~3 years. We will have kids at some point in the future so income could drop significantly and expenditure will obviously rise.
What I would be looking for (I realise these may not all be compatible): - Somewhere we could both commute from (I see her commute as being the bigger issue as Hammersmith is the wrong side of London). Season ticket cost and length of commute are both factors. - Ideally somewhere we could buy a nice 2-bed flat and still have money to spend after mortgage payments, season ticket and additional cost of a car. - Within 45 mins - 1 hour drive (ideally less) of a wake park and a beach that you can windsurf at.
Is this possible in Kent or should I accept I may be stuck in London forever?

Same here, also in Tunbridge Wells. The time of the commute is fine, but the cost is such an impediment.
I've been doing sums and think it's probably going to be cheaper for me to actually move closer to London tbh.
