Why is it that people are okay with the fact that they earn anywhere from 10-25% less for the same job as almost anywhere else in Canada to live out here?

Why is this a thing? I don't get how we all accept it (other than what else can we do?) so easily. Appliances, cars, furniture, etc don't cost any less, meaning business owners aren't making 10-25% less. Rent and houses aren't 10-25% less (well maybe over Vancouver and Toronto), so what gives?

I hear people grumble and complain about the carbon tax that adds a few cents a litre to gas, but not bat an eyelash over making significantly less money than they should. How is this not a thing more people bitch about?
