What is the most stable version of Kdenlive?

I have tried installing Kdenlive multiple times and I have had continuous problems with it. The first time I ran it it crashed and just yesterday it caused a hang the second I dragged a .png into the project bin.
If my experience is on par with a bad Wine of Adobe Premiere, why bother?
If there is a particular version of Kdenlive people know is relatively reliable, that'd be great, because otherwise my experience has been miserable so far.
