unable to use new desktop effects

Hoping someone can help me troubleshoot.
I cant activate any new desktop effect that is compiled on plasma 6, it doesnt appear in the list of desktop effects (tried with KDE-Round-Corners and LightlyShaders' plasma 6 branch)
I have another PC they install just fine on, i'm not sure how to begin figuring out what is wrong.
Both PCs run fedora 40
