O365 District using Google classroom - How to email?

We are an O365 district that has started using google classroom with the whole COVID distance learning happening. We are finding that teachers are trying to email students from within Classroom and, since we use O365 and don't have gmail enabled for the students/faculty, it's failing. Is there a way for Classroom to just open a mailto: or something?
