So ive tried for a bit to get into/like Junji's work and have read a few of his books. So far I've read Remina, Uzumaki, and No longer human. Although these were all fun reads and I did like them, I also disliked them to an extent. I feel like the main thing I disliked about reading his work so far is that the stories feel a lot longer than they should be and have anti climatic endings that aren't satisfying to me. For example with Remina and Uzumaki, its really just an assortment of various horror concepts occuring in the worlds or in Uzumaki's case, the village. The story doesn't really feel like it progesses and normally I'd love this but Uzumaki is pretty freaking long and repetitive to be doing this. Also I dont really find the endings to either of these to be meaningful, they just kind of end and thats that. I did like No Longer Human quite a bit but I feel like I liked it more because of the source material rather than Junji's adapted parts. Please dont get mad or offended Its just how i feel and like I said I still enjoyed these books a lot.
My main thing with this post is I want to know what people consider his best work. I guess I want to change my view on Junji and see the best he has to offer. So what are some of his best works that you think would change my mind?
