I had to do another rest day. I got roped into another virtual five k suddenly and because of weather had to put it in my workout schedule sooner rather than later. So we did rest- 5k jump rope body weight- jump rope body weight
Rest was exactly what you would expect.
I ran a slower five k than before but still no walk breaks! I ran in a trail runner which I regret- Iāve been running minimalist for a year now, and keep trail runners for recovery/walking around at work. Iāve been wearing trail runners more often because Iām putting so much stress on my ankles, shins and knees. But at the end of the day, my stride is totally different so I need to suck up a little bit of the pain and keep up the minimalist training. I found that jump rope so far has helped with cardio for short distances (<1 mi) but not so much for endurance yet.
While I was still warm I went straight into jump rope (with a little water in between). Iāve been working on behind the back rope tricks so I had lots and lots and lots of misses. Then I did really basic bodyweight training with pushups, situps and planks. My ātransformationā personally isnāt going to come in the form of weight loss. I really need to work on strength and toning. And Iāll be honest I have completely new calves from when I started this...
Today I continued behind the back tricks, and I started trying for boxer step. These two are tricks I canāt just get in a day but Iām glad Iām challenging myself. I did a lot without the rope using lots of videos and tips from commenters on other posts (I appreciate all of the encouragement if you were one of those people! I promise Iām working on it!). In the end I could do it with the rope but I was picking up my feet too high so it still has a long way to go. Then I did bodyweight, but just pushups and core in the form of movement around the boat position from yoga (I donāt know what to call what I did... floating crunches?).
Iām getting stronger. Iāve seen huge differences in my body. I hope I can see some of these improvements in running, too!
