Question about Jump Rope... do tricks help burn calories or improve athleticism?
Post Body

Hey, I am about 3 months into jumping rope. Started off first month doing 1/2 pound rope, usually 40 seconds on, 20 seconds rest for 25 to 30 minutes. Now I do same workout with 1 pound rope.

I am gaining control, feels good but full of sweat at the end. I am not great at tricks and watching videos seems like all anyone does is tricks. I am doing this mostly for weight lose, improve my anaerobic exercise, improve foot work and balance, and for fun.... but I am getting discouraged at not improving in a lot of tricks.

Should I keep trying for the tricks, will they even help with my goal of weight loss by burning more calories?

Thanks for any info!
