Straight male here, 32, in NYC. I wanted to open up a conversation about something that's often stigmatized but is completely normal: masturbation, especially among friends.As a straight man, l've found that normalizing this aspect of our lives can help desexualize it and remove the unnecessary shame associated with it.
I've had experiences with nudist friends where we would engage in deep conversations while edging. For me, it's never felt sexual in the traditional sense; it's more about the bond and comfort we share. This mindset shift has allowed me to appreciate masturbation as a primal instinct, rather than something to be embarrassed about.
I've also stopped watching porn, and I can honestly say that focusing on self-exploration with friends has been much better for my mental health. It's not just about ejaculation; it's about connection, mindfulness, and understanding our bodies.
