Can you take the maximum PTO in one go or does that seem unprofessional?

So I'm quite fortunate in that I get about 31 days of annual leave and I want to take a month long trip in the summer. If I calculate 4 weeks annual leave, that'd be about 20 days since I work Mon - Fri.
Now I know each company is different but has anyone taken an extended period of leave for over 2 weeks and have they faced issues with their manager/HR even though you are technically entitled to it? Would you recommend it or not? Answers from both employees and employers welcome.
