I graduated in spring of '21 and am trying to get a job I'm interested in for that field (biology) now. However, I have no previous work, internship, or research experience in my field that I could ask someone for a letter of recommendation or to be a listed as a reference for job applications. Given that my last 3 semesters of college, and therefore most of my higher level courses and labs that it'd make the most sense to ask the professors for these letters, were all online, I'm at a loss for how to find a reference in my field. The professors I had the most interaction with wrote in their syllabus that they aren't writing letters of recommendation for students who have only taken an online course with them. I have no other contacts aside from professors or TA's, and I've read that it isn't appropriate to list a TA as a reference. Am I just SOL here? My interaction with the professors I was going to request letters from was already pretty minimal. I wasn't really the type to ask for help from professors at any point, my biggest interaction was working with them in labs my final few semesters (all virtually).
Who tf can I ask to be a reference/write a letter of recommendation? Should I ask the professors I originally considered, despite them saying they won't write letters for virtual only students?
