Background: I'm 24, graduated college last year, and until recently was doing post-graduation internships in my field. I'm currently unemployed and living on my savings. I have enough money to make to the end of October, and I have supportive parents who will give me interest-free loans if I find myself in a bad spot. Of course, I'd rather not have to ask them for money if I don't have to.
I've been applying for jobs and haven't had the best luck. I had a few phone interviews that didn't lead anywhere, but that was it. Finally, I decided to submit my resume to Robert Half in the hopes of getting temp work to tide me over until I found a full-time job.
Since I submitted my application to the temp agency, I actually did get an in-person interview for a job, and I think the interview went really well. It's in my field, and overall it is a great opportunity for many reasons. I expect to hear back from them one way or another next week, and for various reasons I think it's fairly likely, though obviously not certain, that I'll get the job.
Should I tell the temp agency this? Even if I get the job a temp gig for October would really help me financially. I'm tempted to not mention it at all, and then if I get this full-time position to just leave the temp job early if it extends into November. Would that be normal or (as I worry) is that bad form? Are temp gigs normally only a few weeks, or more like a few months?
