My job is terrible, I may get fired BUT I have a baby on the way and they provide extensive paid leave (2 months. Is it worth to take the risk of staying or should I start looking?
Post Body

I have been in my current job for the last two years. After a change of management, I am in the proverbial situation where I am a fish out of the water. All the people that were on my team as of a year ago were all replaced or fired. I remained on the position but got less responsibilities and the equivalent of a demotion (pay has remained the same). It would be tough to outright fire me but there are layoffs every other quarter here. I am almost sure I am part of the next one (yet somehow I have survived two).

In any other situation, I would start looking immediately but I have a baby due in April. Because of new rules in New York City, I am able to take two months paid leave. I am a first-time father and want to be there so my first instinct is to try and stay put or look internally (which I started doing).

It would be very unlikely to get similar time off at a new position.

What would you do in my shoes?
