Applied at Payless about a week and a half ago and ended up getting a call today and was offered $9.00 an hour and didn't hesitate to accept.

Is that a good starting salary for a first job? I'm 19 years old and in my second semester of community college and I was honestly expecting to get paid the minimum wage which was why I accepted so fast. Could I have counter offered for a bit more ? Thanks for all the replies
Edit: My title makes it seem like I just applied and got the job. I actually had to go through 2 interview before getting called so I figure I beat out some people and earned the spot
