Might be leaving retail job after only a week or two for a different job, how should I give notice?

Post Body

I recently graduated college and have been hunting for a job in my field, but struggling a lot, so I applied for a retail job I’d worked before. I ended up getting hired and right after I went in for onboarding, I got offered an interview for a job that pays way better ($7.50 more per hour with a better schedule) that’s in my field of study and would actually be an interesting, satisfying job for me. Apparently the organization I’m interviewing at tends to make hiring decisions pretty fast, so if I get hired, it’s likely I will have only worked five or so shifts at my current job.

Giving two weeks notice seems ridiculous if I’m not even fully trained at my current job, especially because it’s a relatively casual working environment. So I’m wondering, how much notice should I give if I get this other job? Also, would email be appropriate? I ask because it’s really difficult to get a moment alone with my manager at this job, so it’s hard to not make a big fuss if I need to quit in person.
