Is it okay to keep following up with HR for a job I interviewed for?

Post Body

Basically I work for a very large company and recently had an interview. It went very well and at the end of the interview the HR rep(who was also in the call) said “I will get back to you with news in 1-2 weeks. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.”

2 weeks later, no news so I just wanted to know if I’m still being considered or not. I messaged HR and asked them. They said they’ll ask the status from the manager and back to me soon. They didn’t. So a week later I followed up and asked if there was any update. I got a “sorry for the delay! I’ll give you an update shortly!”

It is now another week later. No answer. I figured I should just let it go but people in my circle are saying “it’s literally HR’s job to do this” and that being internal I shouldn’t feel shy doing a follow up.

I assume I should just let it go but what do you guys think? Thanks.
