What are the odds if I leave this job they'll ask to get the sign on bonus returned?

Post Body

I've been at this new job since August and its ok but I can't see myself here long term which is unfortunate. They paid a pretty sizeable sign on bonus which took almost 3 months of inquiring about to even get paid. HR made it sound like I was ridiculous for expecting it to be paid sooner when in the offer letter the verbiage said "will be paid shortly after starting". The terms were I had to stay for a year or be subject to penalty of repayment of the sign on bonus. I'm just curious if they would even have the awareness to ask for it back? They didn't even know they had to pay it to begin with and I have to submit my offer letter as proof it was part of my agreed compensation. But at this point bi really only need to put in 4 more months to not worry about it. Looking to see if anyone has had a similar situation?
