How are Smaller Public Companies in Your Experience?

Post Body

So a company was interested in my resume contacted me, but they mentioned their HR system was being updated. Ok cool. The interview was very informal (felt like I was talking to the Bob's from Office Space, but in a good way). I had mentioned I knew Powershell and the one manager seemed interested (non tech role). The company is 47X smaller than the current company I work for, the pay would be more, and they asked me about multiple roles. In comparison I applied 5X at the current job I am in for other positions, and got nowhere. They would also pay for a certification. I also will interview with the chief compliance officer if I go forward. They mentioned there is a good chance I go forward and asked me which position I wanted and I said I am open in general. They also stated they would help with moving expenses.

Having said that, how have smaller companies been for your career advancement? Up to this point I worked for large companies, but now I am talking with a smaller public company. Are career advancement opportunities easier? I was not expecting to get a call, so I am pleasantly surprised.
