Resigning today. When should I tell my boss?

I got a job finally and am quitting my my job! My boss leaves at 6pm and I get there at 4pm should I tell him before i clock in or on his way out (which so happens to be when i take my break). I know it would be best to wait till the end of my shift but my managers aren’t responsible for handling my resignation so i figured i just go straight to him ALSO i hate my boss and want to give it to him personally:)
