Post Body

Hi Everyone!

Short: What can I do to secure a position in my former career field, after taking five years off to be a parent?

Long: I have a degree in Communications, and ten years in the field with a highly reputable employer; however, I took five years away from my career to have a child and immigrate to the United States. I am now dual (๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ)

I am ready to return to work and can do so in either country, but I am having terrible luck securing a position. I am applying on jobs related to my former field, but havenโ€™t made it past the interview stage on anything.

What should I be doing differently as someone with such a large gap in experience? Hire a staffing agency? Apply on contract work? Take something unrelated to bridge my gap? I donโ€™t know anymore and I am feeling so discouraged.

Thank you!
