I'm currently searching for a new senior level role in my field and was recently contacted by a hiring manager in response to the resume I submitted on LinkedIn for a role.
The compensation range in the hiring manager's email to me versus what is stated on the company website as well as Linkedin, is a reduction of almost half of what is listed on the role requsition, which accounts for a massive discrepancy in the multiple 10s of thousands of dollars range.
The company looks legitimate on LinkedIn and has good reviews on GlassDoor, but this seems very much like a bait and switch scam to me, or maybe just a total scam in general (phishing? Unsure at this point).
The hiring manager also mentioned in her email to me that this was a shift role (AM and PM options, 6 hours per shift), when this role is a Senior level professional role within the company and requires 12 years of experience in a very niche field. I have never worked a shift job in this field in the entire 14 years I have been in it. It is a very 9-5 standard business hours industry.
I replied to the hiring manager with a screenshot of the listed comp range and asked for clarity.
Is this something recruiters are doing now in order to cast a wider net of candidates and then bait and switch during the interview process? This seems completely unethical to me.
Ps..job hunting sucks! 😩
