I read the first two chapters and wow. I’m not going to mention any of the badass and really cool stuff like that guy burning or similar dope scenes, because I feel like that’d be enjoyable no matter what. Just like what I thought of the characters. I know I’m not far into the story by any means but personally I felt like there was so much density in both of those chapters. First off, I’m going to say that I didn’t like the main character for a majority of the first chapter. I found him as boring and although he had this crazy assassin legend behind him, I was just thinking “I’m not liking this guy, because he’s like a boring type of edgy.” but I was wrong for judging him too soon. The characterization that was placed upon him with that slow buildup of him not being just “hollow” but him having something that he cared about, took him from a 1 to a 10. I felt like I felt growth of the equivalence of 5 chapters in a matter of a few pages. AND THEN THE SECOND CHAPTER CAME. Wow. Again. It wasn’t like 10 chapters of characterization to the sword lady or Gabi, but those few pages of realizing what it takes isn’t killing someone without fear, but being willing to bear the weight of it. Wow. Idk how many series have said that, idk if it is the first one, but what I will say was at least for the execution of only two chapters, I felt like I saw so much growth compared to a lot of other manga and anime that I watch/read. It may not seem like much to many others, but I loved it. Glad that I decided to pick it up. If I keep seeing little characterization nuggets like this, then I’m definitely hooked. I couldn’t say all my thoughts of every little detail that I enjoyed, in this post, but I definitely had more stuff on my mind. Just know. I love it.
