Are jewelers reluctant to set stones that are brought in from elsewhere?

My wife inherited a ring from her father which has a round cut diamond (approximately 1.5 carats.) We would like to have that stone reset in a new custom setting by a local, independent jeweler in our town. Are jewelers at all reluctant to do this, since we're not buying the stone from them as well?
