I'm not sure how many of us already knew this, but I just found out today, and was pretty shocked tbh. For everyone that has watched season 4, we all saw the scene where Jenni called Roger and he told her that he couldn't get the time off of work and therefore wouldn't be coming to Italy to visit her. Jenni cries, then moves on, and we never see Roger in Italy the entire season. That's how it went down on camera.
Apparently, this is not what actually happened. Roger DID end up coming to Italy and visiting Jenni and the rest of the roommates. That scene where Jenni hears that Roger wouldn't be coming was done purely for the storyline of the show. Below are several pictures and a video taken by fans or paparazzi during that time in Florence. There were also news articles from that period confirming this fact.
Apparently, Jenni has also admitted that this is what happened in the past several years. Some have speculated that the existing storyline for this season didn't have room for Roger, so that's why production decided to go this route. Others have mentioned that perhaps that due to the couple's difficult miscarriage prior to season 4 that production wanted to give them time to themselves and not bring that up.
Regardless, I do feel a bit duped realizing that I had been misled this entire time.

EDIT: I've been reading about this a bit more and there is at least one alternate explanation. Roger may have initially told Jenni that he wouldn't be able to come and Jenni's reaction to that news was genuine. Afterwards, they may have convinced him to come or Roger changed his mind. Because he didn't fit into the storyline of that season, they may have made the decision to edit out all other scenes and mentions of him. So cutting all material related to Roger, except for that initial conversation saying that he wouldn't come.
In any case, the end result is the same: the audience was led to believe that Roger never came to Italy, when in fact he did.
