Jersey City, NJ - Mayor Steven Fulop announced his plan to increase affordable housing in the city by increasing taxes and constructing more luxury rental buildings. The mayor believes that the best way to make housing affordable is to make it more expensive.
“By increasing taxes, we can generate more revenue to fund affordable housing projects,” said Mayor Fulop. “And by building more luxury rental buildings, we can create more competition in the market, which will drive down prices.”
Despite mixed reactions, Mayor Fulop remains optimistic about his plan. “We’re going to make Jersey City the most affordable city in the country,” he said. “Just as soon as we finish building all these luxury rental buildings.”
