Jazz!?

Heyyo, I have been recently selected to play guitar for my schools Jazz band. Although I’ve been playing guitar off and on for 8 years, I have never put any effort into learning chords, scales, ect.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should focus my practice? I don’t know how to read treble clef (well, I know where C and G are and can count lines, but I can’t read it ‘fluently’) and I have no idea how to comp. with a band.
Any suggestions?
