I've been playing guitar for about 5 years, and I'd consider myself intermediate. I know pentatonic blues stuff and how to blend major and minor over certain chords of the I-IV-V, and how to do some modal stuff, but in a blues context (mostly using Dorian on a minor blues or mixolydian for some majorly sounding stuff) but I've always liked jazz and feel that diving into it will help me get to where I want, which right now is increasing my dexterity, learning how to get more complex sounds over progressions and I guess gaining fretboard knowledge (I'm good with most notes across the fretboard but when I solo over something it's a "feel" thing until I need to rely on geometry) so what can you guys recommend I do? Any good books or materials you can recommend? I tried two different teachers in my area and it was terrible, the first barely knew the pentatonic positions himself and just gave me exercises without asking me what I wanted to learn or even hearing me play, and the second guy was awesome, but after I played and explained my knowledge to him, he said he couldn't help me. So I've given up on lessons.
