Posterior open bite post op?
Post Body

4 months PO DJS for anterior open bite and my molars and premolars do not touch (posterior open bite). This was part of the plan, but my orthodontist doesn't seem to be taking any active steps to making these teeth touch. I'm still wearing bands on the front teeth to keep things stable. Anyone have experience here? Do I need to complain to get bands on those back teeth? Has anyone seen them gradually fall together on their own over time?

Okay cool I'll bring it up with my Ortho.

Hey, you seem to have good knowledge in the area. Can you help me identify the right terms for this phenomena so I can read up on it? I think this is supra eruption, but I haven't seen literature on that specifically with DJS, just with implants or tooth removals. My orthodontist is the expert, but I like to try and educate myself so I can ask appropriate questions

You mean it's good practice to just let it occur with time? It's not really causing any pain, the issue is more that I'm really struggling to chew/eat. Thanks for weighing in!
