Hi all,
I realize this is probably a strange post, but I'm hoping maybe one of the readers here has experience with apartment construction and balcony repair in Japan. I posted this to /r/diy but it got auto-removed and the mods won't respond to my request for it to be posted.
A drunken BBQ mishap one evening led to the damage you can see in the images above. A square element melted into the balcony. I assume there's some sort of polymer/rubber coating on the balcony. Is there any hope of repairing this myself? I can't fathom how expensive it might be to have to re-coat the entire balcony, especially here in Japan. I rent, and would rather fix it myself than go to my landlord if possible. I thought the damn balcony was concrete! We were shocked when the BBQ melted through this top coating.
I've tried googling variations on 'balcony repair', 'balcony coating repair', etc., but all I've found are videos from companies that specialize in rubber balcony coatings and how they coat an entire balcony, and of course, I do not know the Japanese term for this type of balcony coating. I don't even know what keywords I should use to try to find information on this type of damage.
Any suggestions?
