Watched 10 min of Netflix no1 TV show in Japan - Tokyo Swindlers and honestly its just so bad. Like starts with massive info dump and honestly rubbish acting.
I have no doubt the story could be very interesting but the portrayals and presentation are straight up faeces but Im told is typical in Japan.
So in that case do Japanese actors, writers and directors ever watch how the masters in Hollywood or even Korea make good movies and never think to imitate them even a bit?
Edit: this is my opinion, youre entitled to your own. But to me this show and most Japanese dramas are ruined by bad acting and info dumps (poor writing).
Good storytelling in visual format should show without telling whats going on, let the viewers piece together whats happening without spelling it out. That makes for engagement with the material, but it seems Japanese live action drama doesn’t want to make engaging tv, which is weird when ive seen anime/read novels/manga that do understand this concept much better.
I don’t mind the bad acting in comedies though because it adds to it but its a big negative in dramas
TLDR: most japanese tv show seem rubbish because of bad acting. Willing to try good shows with good acting (no over acting)
