Tips for being unemployed in Japan with a family

Post Body

I’ve decided to leave my job at an eikaiwa after over a decade and look for other work. I’m living in Tokyo with a wife and elementary school child. For anyone else who has been in this situation, any advice or things I should know based on your experiences? (For example, I remember reading on another thread a few months ago about permanent resident visas, that one poster was hounded by immigration for having not done some kind of paperwork while being unemployed for two weeks.)

Extra info: I’m still working now and am on a spousal visa.

I appreciate all of the comments and advice. I hope it can be a thread (not only specific to my situation) that can help anyone in general considering quitting, though.

can you elaborate on how much you need and what kind of visa that is?
