How far do we extend the word jamband?

I have been listening to Jimi Hendrix / Pink Floyd and they both do some live improvisational sections. Would we call them jamband's?

If you listen to live hendrix and Zeppelin they are definitely jamming. Long improvised sections that flow. Pink floyd is not jamming just playing when they wrote already.
