I have an iPhone that I purchased at release, 16GB, running on jailbroken iOS 8.1.2. Recently it has been acting strangely: some examples are some apps lagging, random turn-offs anywhere between 75 and 25% battery life (1423/1430 mAh remaining) and just generally not-behaving-like-I-remember.
Granted the device is over four years old now but I haven't physically abused it and it has lived its life in a LifeProof case only coming out when I clean the case. The only part that is not stock is the new battery I put in it around this time last year
I am fairly certain I have no ability to update to 9.1 9.0.2 (thanks /u/birbb_) (most up-to-date 32-bit jailbreak available) since the signing window was closed roughly a year ago, and no iOS 10 jailbreak is available yet.
I read on the wiki (link on sidebar) that I could use Cydia Eraser or Semi-Restore to have a "fresh start" while retaining my ability to jailbreak my current firmware.
Has anyone had experience with either of these tools? I am leaning towards doing Cydia Eraser since it sounds like it would be the best way to ensure I have a fresh device.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
