Update: if someone stumbles upon this post this long after its last edit (09/09/2015), I've now crossed off most of the things I needed to get done before a public release. I'll be making another post soon. Edits are in bold and what's redacted is struck through.
Hi!
Ever since Cydia got opened up for customization I've had this idea in mind, to be able to add reviews to tweaks within Cydia itself. But only this week did I have the time to actually start working on this.
The concept is simple, just like in the App Store, after having used an app, you have the option to leave a review of it, and rate it out of 5 stars. I've tried to copy this experience for Cydia.
A couple of caveats though: to write a review you will of course need to have previously used the tweak in question, and you currently need to log in with your Facebook or Google account, so if you were hoping to review it anonymously, that is unfortunately not within the scope of this tweak. Other services for login will be added later on.
As the title says, this is still in beta, there's still lots of stuff to be improved upon, and even more to be added. Here's what you already can do:
- Write a review (obviously)
- View all of the previously written reviews for a specific package, along with who wrote them, their rating, and date
- View the average rating for the package, if there are more than 10 reviews for it
What I plan on adding in the near future:
Show the average star rating somewhere on the package depiction itselfAdd a top charts pageRating statistics - Going from 1 star to 5, how many people left how many for each review- Better incorporate it with Cydia's interface, and a better overall UI
Filter between reviews for the current (latest) version and all versions- View related packages, which will eventually need a bit of crowdsourcing
Add other login options, for example GoogleFacebook and Google are now available for login, I will not be adding support for other services
What I could use from the community:
- An icon. My artistic ability leaves much to be desired, so when this is finally due for an official release, it'd be nice to have an official icon to go with it.
That's it, I hope to work on the features cited above this coming August, but with it being summer vacation and all it's a bit hard to sober up long enough to work on this I hope to get this out on a public repository in the coming week :)
The package is downloadable from my personal repository: apt.mootjeuh.com.
