StatusModifier - format question!

If I want the status bar to display a 12-hour date and the date and month in the following fashion, what do I need to enter to properly format it?
"3:26 - Jan 17"
As much as I play with it I can't get it to display correctly. When I try doing the 12-hour clock format, it always puts a zero in front (e.g. 03:26). When I try just inserting a "h" instead of "hh", it doesn't like that.
